Preparing 3D data for 3D printing

A few software tools dominate the 3D printing / additive manufacturing preparation market. These middleware tools help you ensure that your CAD file has proper meshes, or that the file is viewed as a solid body rather than a surface body, or that volumes do not intersect. Rhinocerous 3D is one of these tools. Recently, a partner company with Rhino, MecSoft Corporation, a developer of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software solutions, released a new product for the 3D printing industry, Rhino3DPRINT 2015®.

This middleware tool is a fully integrated plug-in to Rhinoceros 5.0. It includes automatic tools for preparing 3D data that otherwise cannot be 3D printed. The seamless combination of Rhino’s modeling and extensive file import function with Rhino3DPRINT’s data preparation tools helps users 3D print models from almost any input source and any major 3D format.

Said Joe Anand, President and CEO of MecSoft Corp., “With the launch of this new product, MecSoft is redefining CAM by offering solutions to target both Additive and Subtractive manufacturing. We see both of these manufacturing technologies increasingly start to coexist in shops across the world.”
