Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE for SOLIDWORKS v10.0 Released

Version 10.0 offers enhanced SOLIDWORKS® integration and hybrid modeling for precise, aesthetic design.

SAN DIEGO, CA, Sep 16, 2024 – nPower Software / IntegrityWare, Inc announces the release of version 10.0 of its award winning products – Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE for SOLIDWORKS®. Version 10.0 is a major upgrade, with new features that empower the integration with SOLIDWORKS® and facilitate hybrid modeling with analytic geometry and organic SubD geometry blended together to optimize precise design and aesthetically beautiful design in a way that hasn’t been possible in the past.

Power Surfacing is the premier industrial design solution for SOLIDWORKS®. With its patented technology, version 10.0 makes Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE an unmatched tool for industrial design and reverse engineering scanned meshes, sculpted meshes (like ZBrush), and SOLIDWORKS® geometry. Version 10.0 introduces unique, advanced constraints technology for tight integration between precise analytic geometry and organic SubD geometry (functionality only available in Power Surfacing). Version 10.0 also enables dimension driven modeling of SubD geometry to facilitate updates and design revisions. Improvements in Mirroring, Shading, Shelling, constraint color coding, Edge weighting / vanishing edges, etc. make Power Surfacing 10.0 easier to use in creating and modifying complex / beautiful surface geometry.

Here are some of the new features that will greatly improve productivity. (See a video overview of the new Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE features used to design a motorized bicycle.)

  • Dimension driven SubD geometry
  • Use sketches, surfaces and solid objects to drive / define Power Surfacing geometry
  • Constrain SubD geometry to analytic geometry
  • Offset from SOLIDWORKS® geometry
  • Constraint types identified by color and size
  • Improved vanishing edges
  • Wrap SOLIDWORKS® geometry (including multiple surfaces) with SubD geometry
  • Mate parts between SOLIDWORKS® geometry & SubD geometry
  • Constrain tangent to Iso Curves
  • Improved clay like shaders
  • Improved Mirror conversion and multi-direction Mirror
  • Improved Power Shell / Power Thicken

Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE are tightly integrated within SOLIDWORKS®, and the objects they create live within the SOLIDWORKS® feature tree just like typical SOLIDWORKS® features. Many other additional features (and videos) can be found on the Power Surfacing and Power Surfacing RE web pages.

Power Surfacing RE is a reverse engineering (RE) add-in product for SOLIDWORKS® 3D design software that significantly improves the process for reverse engineering scanned meshes, other mesh data, and SOLIDWORKS® geometry within SOLIDWORKS®Power Surfacing RE is the industry leading solution for reverse engineering organic meshes. It provides extremely accurate conversion of even the largest of scanned meshes; it is fast and efficient, creating light weight models out of extremely complex scans. If you need to convert complex, difficult scanned data into SOLIDWORKS® geometry, Power Surfacing RE is the ideal solution.

Power Surfacing RE is built on top of the award winning Power Surfacing product (and contains all of the Power Surfacing functionality). Power Surfacing is a subdivision surface (SubD) based organic modeling tool for SOLIDWORKS®Power Surfacing creates fully compatible SOLIDWORKS® surfaces and solids that support all of the powerful SOLIDWORKS® commands that you use on native SOLIDWORKS® geometry. With its tight integration inside of SOLIDWORKS®, and its rich and powerful feature set, Power Surfacing has become the tool of choice for industrial designers who want to quickly generate beautiful designs that can easily be turned into manufactured solutions.
