Optomec CEO Dave Ramahi Passed Away

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, Mar 21, 2023 – Optomec issued the following statement, “It is with intense sadness that we announce Dave Ramahi, president and chief executive officer of Optomec, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home in Boston, MA. Optomec’s Board of Directors, its management team and its employees extend their deepest sympathies to Dave’s family. He will be remembered for the personal compassion and boundless energy he brought to the company and its customers. He will be deeply missed by many across the industry.”

The Board of Directors has appointed Mike Barry to the role of interim president and CEO. Mike previously served as Optomec’s vice president of corporate development and has been a member of Optomec’s Board of Directors for many years. Mike has 30 years’ experience in senior executive positions at a number of rapid growth high-tech companies, including his role as founder and CEO of a successful software start-up, Rosetta Technologies. With Mike’s in-depth knowledge of Optomec’s customers, operations, employees and culture, he is particularly well-suited to carry on Dave’s vision of bringing additive manufacturing to the production floor.

Dave Ramahi  joined Optomec in 2002 after successful leadership positions in the computer graphics industry. Under Dave’s leadership as CEO, Optomec transitioned from start-up mode, to sustained growth, to profitability to ultimately achieving Dave’s vision: becoming one of the few Additive Manufacturing companies that derives the majority of its revenue from production applications. Dave received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).
