BeAM Machines hosts event at new 20,000-sqft facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
BeAM Machines SAS, a European provider of DED (Directed Energy Deposition) solutions, opened its U.S subsidiary, BeAM Machines, Inc., in Cincinnati, Ohio earlier this year. The facility, operating as the BeAM Machines Solutions Center for North America, will handle sales, service, process/material development, applications, R&D and training.
The 20,000-sqft facility houses a dedicated additive manufacturing workspace, metallurgical lab, applications training facility, assembly area and post process machining department. BeAM will be hosting an Open House from 11am-8pm on Thursday, August 31st at its facility located at 5101 Creek Road in Blue Ash. Attendees will have the opportunity to view live demonstrations of the company’s flagship machine, The Magic 2.0, and tour the facility.
According to Tim Bell, general manager of BeAM Machines, Inc., “We chose Blue Ash as the location for our facility because it is the largest suburban employment center in greater Cincinnati with nearly 40,000 jobs. Additionally, it is centrally located to the major highways, is approximately 30 minutes to the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky International Airport and is populated with a very high concentration of potential customers and suppliers.”
BeAM Machines, Inc. manufactures 3D additive manufacturing machines which use a combination of DED and computer numeric control (CNC). DED works by feeding metallic powder through a deposition nozzle and melting it with a high power laser to create a layer-by-layer construction with CNC controlled accuracy.
The machines support a range of materials such as stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys and cobalt chromium to manufacture and repair parts for clients in multiple industries, including aerospace, defense, nuclear and oil & gas.
BeAM’s additive manufacturing machine solutions range from the Mobile, a small scale 5 axis machine, designed for material research, small production volumes as well as the repair of thin wall and complex parts, to the Magic 2.0, a large scale 5 axis machine designed for serial production or repair of high-value components in industries with long lead times and high buy-to-fly ratios. The company’s newest machine, the Modulo, is a medium scale fully integrated 5 axis serial production machine suitable for constrained space environments and remote places such as oil rigs and military conflict zones.
