fabWeaver is a new global 3D brand that developed a new budget-friendly 3D printing platform for prototyping. The fabWeaver type A530 was built with industrial designers, engineers, and product designers in mind. The company claims this machine delivers on the promise of reliable “office-friendly, factory worthy” prototyping, at a special price point.
fabWeaver developed the printer to bring high-end, and repeatable 3D printing capability to offices around the world that couldn’t justify the high cost of such systems. The type A530 was initially soft-launched in November, 2021 in Europe, and will continue with a second launch in the U.S. in the early part of 2022 at the 2022 AMUG expo (Additive Manufacturing Users Group) in Chicago, Illinois in April. The company will also display its system at the Rapid+TCT Show.
The fabWeaver type A530 has a large chamber to maintain and control consistent internal
temperature and boost in the process. For better consistency, the 3D printer solves problems
relating to power outages through a recovery function and improves the accuracy of prints relating to positioning through a closed-loop motor control. The printer also can operate
non-stop with an automatic feeding system so that teams are able to increase the speed of innovation and iteration in the prototyping process. It also provides user-friendly tools to enhance workflows with Weaver3 Cloud and mobile and manages and monitors the systems with Weaver3 Studio before printing prototypes.
The type A530 prototyping workstation builds a volume of 310 x 310 x 310 mm (12.2 x
12.2 x 12.2 in) in all three dimensions and is suitable for all applications. Dual-nozzles help users
print out multi-color models. The type A530’s Automatic Feeding System handles non-stop printing, improving lead times for product development workflows, additive manufacturing workshops, and small part makers.
The workstation’s large heated build chamber controls the temperature to 75’C inside to
ensure high-quality prints, not leading to product degradation. The type A530 has relatively low noise which makes it suitable for placement in both professional and industrial work environments, especially in engineering, industrial design, education and architecture
such as offices, engineering lab for businesses, or service bureaus.
The type A530 augments its solid structural design with an intuitive and easy-to-use touch
screen coupled with both a plug-and-play USB port and wireless connection to ease initial
downloads and set-up, regardless of user experience. Moreover, users can focus their attention on creating functional prototypes and industrial-level parts without having to worry about bed-leveling by using the auto-leveling function. This can reduce hours of non-productive time during the production process.
While the fabWeaver type A530 is a Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) printer suitable for
practically any office, it features industrial-level capabilities and materials. Highly configurable, the platform allows users to save printing time by removing hybrid-support materials which remove infill area with a soluble material directly from the assembly part. For designers and engineers with high expectations and requirements for building reliable working models, the initial materials available for use on the type A530 include ABS, ASA, PLA, composite materials with more materials to be supported soon, and the PLA specified for use on the type A530 comes in multiple color options.
The type A530 comes as a stand-alone unit and a full-body system, the latter often being the best choice for improving workflows. There are various ways to customize the system with Smart-tables, including 4 filament boxes and a filament spool set. If you equip your type A530 with the filament boxes (featuring 2 boxes for material and 2 boxes for support at the same time) and the filament spool set, it will be compatible with industry-standard open materials.
Type A530 users can control their system remotely with the free ‘Weaver3 Cloud &
Mobile’ apps. These offer mobile job monitoring, push notifications, real-time printing live video, and system dashboard for their convenience. Industrial Designers and Engineers alike will appreciate fabWeaver’s intuitive and user-friendly ‘Weaver3 Studio’ capable of proceeding smoothly from CAD to print. Weaver3 Cloud and Mobile allow users to manage 3D printing workflows efficiently so users can check on their printing process virtually anytime—and from everywhere.
The fabWeaver type A530 starts at $6,000 for the base model, and is priced under $10,000 when completely outfitted with the smart-table.
