SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Jan 26, 2022 – Open Design Alliance (ODA), provider of complete interoperability solutions for CAD and BIM, announced the release of IFC conversion as part of its BimRv SDK (Software Development Kit).
BimRv SDK is ODA’s industry-leading standalone solution for reading and visualizing Autodesk Revit files. BimRv also offers limited creation support for Revit files.
IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is an open, international standard for representing BIM data, developed and maintained by buildingSMART International.
“With BimRv’s new IFC conversion support, it is now possible to generate industry-standard IFC files from Revit models without any dependencies on the Revit application itself,” said Neil Peterson, ODA president. “This capability is particularly in demand in cloud-based environments.”
“Our IFC conversion is fully configurable,” said Sergey Vishnevetsky, ODA director of development. “For example, the conversion can be tailored to export only elements that are visible in Revit, elements on a particular level, elements chosen by type, or elements chosen by some other criteria.”
BimRv supports conversion to IFC 2×3, with support for IFC 4.0 planned for later this year.
Availability and Pricing
IFC conversion is available in BimRv version 22.12 and later. BimRv is an optional component available for purchase by Sustaining level and higher ODA members.
Pricing for ODA memberships and components can be found at opendesign.com/pricing.
