Niche Cobot for Manufacturing Assembly and Small Material Handling

Automate 2019 - This tiny cobot is useful for some manufacturing applications.

When we think of industrial robotics, we tend to think of large, high-payload robots used in automotive assembly and other dangerous tasks. But Denso Robotics has developed a niche collaborative robot very different from that vision.

The Cobotta weighs only 4 kg. Its six-axis arm can reach 342.5 mm and pick up 0.5kg. It’s designed to be portable, so that the robot can be taken to, for example, a circuit board assembly workbench or a 3D printer and programmed to automate simple tasks. The Cobotta includes direct lead-to-teach functionality and an open control API.
