New Thermal Simulation Series Illustrates Telecom Cabinet Cooling Solution

Chatsworth, CA – NMB Technologies Corporation, a Minebea Group Company, has released a new informational engineering paper on how thermal simulation can aid and anticipate the behavior of cooling components. The new paper deals with the design of a telecom cabinet cooling solution in which 3 fan trays, each with two 120mm axial fans are used to cool a total of 6 power supply modules. Both the fan trays and the power supply modules were located in a 19 inch rack inside the telecom cabinet. Two blowers mounted to the roof of the cabinet created the overall air flow through out the equipment independently from the fan trays.

Thermal simulation is used to discover thermal inadequacies in a cooling design. In this second paper, NMB presents a view of how thermal simulation can assist in predicting and improving the airflow and optimal cooling of an average telecom application. NMB’s first thermal simulation paper explores an average CPU cooling design.

The use of thermal simulation technology has become part of NMB’s design offerings, and has been proven to facilitate the design process of many of their customers by providing key information and solutions for several thermal cooling applications.
