The dynamic relationships Civil 3D builds are incredible. While learning how the software functions, and creating and manipulating styles, is obviously important, new users sometimes forget that at the end of the day, we still need to cut sheets.This video builds on, and closes out the process of creating a profile view. The tutorial shows you how to size the profile view appropriately on even stations, with a proper height, and place it on a plan and profile sheet. Although your profile views, and your sheets, may appear differently that what we see in the tutorial, the workflow will be the same. Interestingly enough, Civil 3D does have Plan Production tools to cut Plan and Profile sheets automatically. But the foundation of those tools is built upon the process you’ll see in the tutorial.

If you placed a profile view in your drawing for the first time, you’ve undoubtedly seen the gap, and a long rectangular box with what appears to be elevations labeled vertically, and stations labeled horizontally. How do you change the elevations along the bottom of the profile view? We’ll walk you through the process.

An alignment can be created from a simple polyline. This tutorial outlines the process of creating an alignment, and then creating a profile of this alignment. Once the profile has been created, it is placed in a profile view, and the profile view, unlike Land Desktop, can be moved or copied.
