New Profile View Tutorials Added to the Civil 3D Library at I.II.I

The following tutorials have been added to the Civil 3D Library at I.II.I one.to.one:

  • PRO104 How to Modify Profile Views for Perfect Sheet Placement
The dynamic relationships Civil 3D builds are incredible. While learning how the software functions, and creating and manipulating styles, is obviously important, new users sometimes forget that at the end of the day, we still need to cut sheets.

This video builds on, and closes out the process of creating a profile view. The tutorial shows you how to size the profile view appropriately on even stations, with a proper height, and place it on a plan and profile sheet. Although your profile views, and your sheets, may appear differently that what we see in the tutorial, the workflow will be the same. Interestingly enough, Civil 3D does have Plan Production tools to cut Plan and Profile sheets automatically. But the foundation of those tools is built upon the process you’ll see in the tutorial.

  • PRO103 Copying Profile Views in Preparation for Sheet Placement & Plan Production
Civil 3D gives us the opportunity to create lengthy profile views to use during the design process. But how do you split a view to start thinking of placement and plan production? This tutorial shows you the proper way to copy and split a profile view for sheet placement.
  • PRO102 Modifying the Profile Band, Changing Elevations Along the Bottom of the the Profile View – Profile Band Styles
The profile band is mysterious for those beginning a study style manipulation in Civil 3D. But if you follow some simple rules, they are easy to understand.

This tutorial explains more about the profile band, where you can find the details about the band, and where you can change the elevations.

If you placed a profile view in your drawing for the first time, you’ve undoubtedly seen the gap, and a long rectangular box with what appears to be elevations labeled vertically, and stations labeled horizontally. How do you change the elevations along the bottom of the profile view? We’ll walk you through the process.

  • PRO101How to Modify a Profile View Style
Quite honestly, one of the hardest things to wrap your brain around when you start using Civil 3D is the notion of a Profile vs. a Profile View. This video walks through the process of taking a profile and profile that currently exist in a drawing, taking ownership of it, and making it resemble something that would normally come out of your office. As usual, we don’t just show you what buttons to push, we show you a method of learning styles you can use throughout Civil 3D.
  • PRO100 Create Alignment from Polyline and Create Profile in Civil 3D
An alignment can be created from a simple polyline. This tutorial outlines the process of creating an alignment, and then creating a profile of this alignment. Once the profile has been created, it is placed in a profile view, and the profile view, unlike Land Desktop, can be moved or copied.
