New partnership offers AI-based simulation with on-demand HPC

Training simulation AI takes a lot of computational resources; Rescale has a solution.

Rescale, the cloud-based, high-performance computing (HPC) as-a-service provider, has partnered with Neural Concepts, a company focused on 3D deep learning technologies for product design, to offer engineers the benefits of AI-assisted 3D simulations with on-demand and scalable computational resources. Using AI to predict simulation results can help engineers get results faster, enabling them to better explore product design spaces. However, training these machine learning models can require powerful HPC.

“Global challenges require innovative solutions and an accelerated time-to-market; the world simply cannot afford to wait years and years — or even decades — for more sustainable solutions,” said Pierre Baqué, CEO and cofounder of Neural Concept, in a release. “By partnering with Rescale, we can give aerospace and automotive OEMs access to lightning-fast numerical simulations and radically innovative 3D product designs with HPC-as-a-Service scalability. This is the new era of engineering intelligence, where global challenges and new market opportunities can be rapidly addressed by the seamless integration of cutting-edge 3D AI, HPC-as-a-Service and OEM engineering know-how.”

Neural Concept’s platform, Neural Concept Shape, gives engineers access to AI-based product design tools. The company writes that these tools can reduce product development time by 75%, speed up simulations by a factor of 10 and improve product performance by 30%. The platform is already used by more than 60 companies in the aerospace and automotive space, including Airbus, Subaru and the European Space Agency. By integrating Neural Concept Shape onto Rescale’s HPC-as-a-Service offering, users will be able to scale up these product performance and development boosts.

“[Neural Concept’s] pioneering 3D AI platform for design simulation, perfectly complements Rescale’s cloud-first approach to delivering HPC to R&D teams globally,” said Mark Fieldhouse, vice president and general manager of Americas & EMEA at Rescale. “Our joint customers will now benefit from the incredible agility and almost unlimited compute that Rescale’s cloud platform provides – ushering in a new era for manufacturing and design innovation.”
