New Features for AMD Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise

New AMD software delivers gains in performance for SOLIDWORKS 2019 and in graphics capabilities.

The AMD Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q1 driver is currently available, which will help boost the Radeon Pro GPU’s professional graphics, enhancing security features and performance among other things.

The Radeon Pro Software was designed to speed up product design workflows using an array of features to increase both engineer and designer productivity such as over 320 “Day Zero” ISV application certification and select app performance improvements.

The features lend support to workstation wireless VR, such as AMD Radeon Pro Image Boost which enhances image quality and increases AMD Remote Workstation functionality.

Workstation Application Performance

The AMD Radeon Pro graphics is 46 percent better in rendering performance when used with AMD Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q1 and the SOLIDWORKS Performance Test 2019. A year-to-year comparison shows the performance has increased as well – being 33 percent faster in SPECviewperf than the previous AMD Pro Software Enterprise – Edition 18.Q1.

Over 320 “Day Zero” Certifications

The latest Radeon software comes with the 320 “Day Zero” ISV application certification that includes Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk 3DS Max and others. When compared to the 18.Q4 enterprise driver against the NVIDIA Quadro Optimal Driver for Enterprise, AMD claims it has roughly 40 percent more driver certifications for some applications.

A Look at Workstation Wireless VR Visualization

The Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q1 gives support to the workstation wireless VR for AMD Radeon VR Ready Creator graphics cards. This is being readied for a pending release of the Pro ReLive for VR application for standalone VR, which will use 6DoF tracking technology. The workstation wireless VR allows designers to visualize and interact with creators to use the VR headset.

The Pro Image Boost

The AMD Radeon Pro Image Boost feature improves decision making. It’s a professional aspect to the Virtual Super Resolution technology that is used in conjunction with professional apps. The Pro Software toggles graphics to yield a higher resolution by dialing back to a lower native resolution when applicable. This helps to improve both clarity and sharpness.

You can also show in-depth designs in high-quality images regardless of the display resolutions being used. This helps to speed up the decision making process for product design.

Virtual Workstation Apps for Remote Tasks

The AMD Remote Workstation was improved to handle application virtualization and streaming via Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. This helps companies to lower IT costs, as professionals can work remotely. Support for the AMD Remote Workstation will be available on multiple platforms such as HPE Edgeline EL4000 Engineering Workstation.

Bottom Line

The Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q1 makes distribution simpler and could help people who use commercial applications. It also may be useful for content creators who use entertainment and media applications with the AMD Radeon graphics cards. One caveat: the workstation certification optimization for the AMD Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise is not available when the AMD Radeon graphics cards are used.
