New autonomous mobile robot doubles payload and towing capacity of MiR100.
Industrial automation comes in all shapes and sizes, but autonomous mobile robots are particularly intriguing. Manufacturers would seem to agree, with Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) reporting a 500 percent growth in sales in 2016.
Today, over 200 MiR100 logistics robots and accessories are installed in facilities all over the world.
At Automate 2017, MiR is launching its newest robot, the MiR200.
The MiR200 updates MiRâs web-based user interface, with the aim of making programming easier for users who have no previous experience. Updates include customizable dashboards, improved mapping, easier creation of robot missions and tasks, multi-level permissions, responsive web design and comprehensive browser support.
The MiR200 doubles the payload capacity of the MiR100 to 200kg/440lbs, and offers a MiRHook option for autonomous towing of carts up to 500kg/1102lbs.
The robot offers flexibility through a choice of top modulesâincluding racks, shelves, conveyors, lifts or even collaborative robot armsâwhich can be customized and mounted to meet specific application requirements.
With its ESD-compliant exterior, the MiR200 is also suitable for electronic assembly applications where parts being transported must be protected from electrostatic discharge.
MiR robots utilize six separate sensor systems, which feed data to the robotâs real-time navigation and safety algorithms. This enables quick decisions for efficient and safe operation of the robot, even in changing situations with unpredictable obstacles such as people, extension cords, pallets or boxes.
Full 360-degree scanning allows the robot to safely back up, rather than being limited to forward motion. Additional sensors prevent blind spots by identifying obstacles above the robot and can look ahead and down to identify holes or stairwells, as well as clear obstacles such as glass walls.
