Materialise Releases Magics 14

Materialise announces the release of a new version of the pre-processing software solution for the rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing industry – Magics 14. It offers lots of new features and comes equipped with a completely renewed customer service approach to enable users to make the most of this powerful software solution.

Magics is a core component of the Magics e-RP Solution Suite, which offers an essential range of integrated efficiency boosting solutions for rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing setups. This new release of Magics features many enhancements; highlights include easy access to round the clock professional customer service, the ability to increase the efficiency of work preparation, process automation and the capability to increase build success for metal additive manufacturing.

Magics 14 has a fully renewed customer service framework in place. This enhanced customer service framework will be visible to users in the form of a ‘support request button’, which provides a quick and direct route to professional customer service. By taking advantage of their global coverage, Materialise are able to provide responsive customer service ‘round the clock’ (24 hours per day throughout the working week).

Magics 14 includes a range of new features to increase the efficiency of your work preparation. Major benefits include the ability to perform complex cuts using section views, increased flexibility to speed up mirroring operations and the possibility to directly import Rhino files thereby maintaining color and texture details. All these work preparation operations, or in fact any operation performed on a part or platform is recorded to ensure complete control of your process.

The automation of additive manufacturing processes becomes one step closer with Magics 14. This includes a direct link to Materialise’s increasingly popular e-Tools, which automate specific steps in the work preparation process. Further automation is provided in the form of post-build part tracking with the ability to automatically apply identification tags to STL files. The tags can then be easily removed during the part finishing stage. This feature is particularly interesting for the post-build identification of series of components with minor variations, such as a series of medical implants.

Materialise’s commitment and support for pioneering technologies is also prominent in Magics 14. This is evident in the form ‘Metal SG’; an extended build support toolbox specifically designed for the additive manufacturing of metal components. Metal SG provides new possibilities to customize metal build supports.
