Advanced Motion Controls (AMC) has launched its FE060-25-EM servo drive. At 38 x 25 x 16 mm in size, the footprint of the drive is approximately the same as two standard postage stamps. In other words, four of these drives can fit on a standard business card. Even with its small size, the FE060-25-EM can supply brushed, brushless, stepper and linear servo motors with up to 25 amps continuous current and 50 amps peak current.

Beckhoff has introduced its AMP8620 supply module. The AMP8000 system provides support for the implementation of modular machine concepts. With the AMP8620 supply module’s IP 65 protection rating and consistent decentralization, the entire motion system can now be mounted directly on the machine. Furthermore, air conditioning equipment, which would otherwise be necessary to cool control cabinets, can also be eliminated.

Eaton has developed its 5P uninterruptible power system (UPS).The 5P UPS uses lithium-ion batteries that provide improved performance compared to lead-acid batteries, with extended service life up to eight years and reducing the need for mid-cycle battery replacement. Lithium-ion batteries also have three times faster recharge capabilities, lowering vulnerability and maximizing uptime in the case of power disruptions.

KOLLMORGEN has released its AKMH series of stainless steel servo motors. The AKMH series combines high drive performance and easy cleaning. For instance, the internal structural design effectively removes heat losses outwards.

Stainless steel has low thermal conductivity, and so motors made of this material normally have problems in this regard. The improved heat removal capacity of the AKMH increases drive performance for practical usage, as the synchronous servo motors deliver more output for the same design size.

Technosoft has unveiled its iPOS4808 VX intelligent servo drive, a plug-in card from the company’s iPOS line of drives that can control any DC brush, rotary/linear brushless or step motor up to 400 W. Executing locally programmed functions or instructions received from various communication networks, the drive interfaces with typical feedback devices like incremental and sin/cos encoders, digital or linear Halls.

Rated for 8 A continuous (at 48 V) and 20 A peak current, the iPOS4808 offers high power-density on a compact board – only 44 x 56 mm of PCB space. Communication channels include RS-232 serial communication, EtherCAT via an extension module or directly CANopen.
