Harold Stewart wants to make the world a cleaner place. When taking care of his young niece and nephew he noticed that they spilled, and spilled often. He decided to develop a water repelling spray to make cleaning up the spills a little easier. Because he wanted the product to be useful for his family he required the spray to be safe and environmentally friendly.
LiquidOff started a Kickstarter campaign today, seeking funding to launch their spray. Stewart saw products on the market that had carcinogens and other toxicity concerns. While these products might work in an industrial setting they weren’t consumer friendly. This was the beginning of the development of LiquidOff as a water-based solution.
The spray’s proprietary process uses hydrophobic nanotechnology to concentrate the formula to a level that only requires water to activate. LiquidOff consists mainly of silicon dioxide nano particles, dispersing additives and de-ionized water. The Kickstarter page claims that using the spray on clothing will have no effect on comfort, look, feel or breathability.
Harold Stewart is trained as an electrical engineer and his passion for the product and attention to detail come to light when talking about LiquidOff. The Kickstarter campaign is slick and well produced, showing several demonstrations and possible uses for the spray.
The campaign is seeking $25,000 for costs associated with its first production run. The manufacturing has been sourced and product is expected to ship in September 2014. Significant progress has been made after one day of campaign funding and I’m excited to see the product launch.
