A new venture focused on developing semiconductors using microgravity-based manufacturing technology.
LatticeX and Zero-G have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a joint venture, Zero-G Materials Inc., aimed at transforming the power electronics industry through microgravity-enabled manufacturing of wide band gap (WBG) semiconductor materials.
Zero-G Materials Inc. will focus on delivering the highest quality WBG semiconductor wafers, enabling the next generation of high-performance, high-yield power electronic devices. These advanced materials are critical to fast-growing sectors such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and telecommunications.
LatticeX brings to the venture its proprietary and patented microgravity annealing technology, which significantly improves the thermal and yield performance of WBG materials. Traditional manufacturing on Earth introduces bulk defects due to gravitational forces; LatticeX’s microgravity-based process eliminates these defects, enhancing the value of low-grade silicon carbide wafers by more than 10 times.
Zero-G contributes deep expertise and intellectual property in creating and operating microgravity environments for commercial applications. The company has a proven track record in enabling breakthrough research and novel experiences in microgravity, making it an ideal partner to operationalize space-based manufacturing.
