With many employees returning to the office, it may be time to look at protection and security for work laptops. Lock provider Kensington has released a new lineup of keyed and combination laptop locks called NanoSaver. The new locks support the Nano security slot, which is 70 percent smaller than the traditional Kensington lock slot.

Kensington’s new NanoSaver lineup includes:

  • NanoSaver Keyed Laptop Lock (K64444) for all-round use
  • NanoSaver Dual Head Laptop Lock (K64448) with two lock heads
  • NanoSaver Portable Laptop Lock (K66640) with a coiled cable
  • Slim NanoSaver Combination Lock (K60603) with over 10,000 combinations
  • Slim NanoSaver Portable Combination Lock (K60627) for the hybrid worker
  • Slim NanoSaver Combination Ultra Cable Lock (K60629) for the highest level of theft prevention

The NanoSaver Portable Laptop Lock boasts a coiling carbon steel cable that stretches up to six feet and shrinks down to three inches. The 10mm extra-strong carbon steel with plastic sheath protects against cutting and the keyed NanoSaver locks feature Kensington’s anti-pick Hidden Pin Technology. The slim nano lock head will ensure laptops lie flat on any surface and has been tested to protect against torque/pull, foreign implements, lock lifecycle, corrosion, and other environmental conditions. Kensington offers a limited lifetime warranty on all locks.

With multiple options such as keyed or combination locks, Kensington aims to provide users with robust locking solutions for the newest generation of compact devices equipped with the Nano security slot. They provide options for up to 95 percent of Apple and Windows devices, including HP, Lenovo and Asus.

As modern laptops have become smaller and lighter, Kensington has evolved its traditional locks to keep up with the latest technology. The update to the locking systems comes after the latest edition of the Nano security slot, which is seventy percent smaller than conventional slots.

Kensington was one of the first to create a laptop lock as well as an industry-standard T-bar security slot back in 1992 to provide security for all physical devices. Its locks are compatible with over 95 percent of laptops, projectors, printers, and monitors. NanoSaver is the latest evolution of laptop locking technology.

According to Kensington, employees and their IT security team should protect their company through VPN security and security policies, but more importantly, laptop locks—something many people overlook.

“A recent survey conducted by Kensington found that 73 percent of respondents in the process of returning to the office plan to implement a hybrid work schedule moving forward protecting company-owned devices from theft, whether they’re being used at the office, at home, or in a coffee shop, requires a robust, portable, easy-to-use locking solution,” said Santiago Del Portillo, security category marketing manager at Kensington.
