The Challenge
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Technical Services team that provides project and program management services, professional contracts, analysis and design functions, and other technical support services for all modes of NCDOT.  Our team supports overall program and project delivery in these areas:  Environmental Analysis, Environmental Policy, Geotechnical, Hydraulics, Location and Surveys, Photogrammetry, Professional Services Management, Project Management, Roadway Design, and Utilities.
 
In this role, you will:
  • Work with our Division staff, unit heads, and others to implement Division priorities.
  • Complete research and analysis, resource planning, and formulate recommendations.
  • Guide transitions to implementation.
  • Develop communication strategies.
  • Encourage change management through performance tracking and operational support.
  • Actively work on priority initiatives in collaboration with our Division Director and their team.
  • Work with minimal or no direct supervision.
 
What You Bring
  • Demonstrated ability leading change to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Knowledge of professional engineering, techniques, practices, and procedures; NCDOT organizational structures; and budgetary planning.
  • Experience developing, interpreting, and administering policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Experience establishing and managing priorities, developing work schedules, monitoring goal progress and schedules, and tracking data and activities.
  • Experience anticipating and solving problems, working cooperatively with others, influencing others to achieve results, and enhancing organizational effectiveness and project delivery.
  
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, and
  • 4+ years of relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Note
  • We may require you to be registered as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
