Job Description:

NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to support the Underground Storage Tank (UST) program. This position assists with program implementation aimed at the protection of human health and the environment from leaking underground storage tanks.
 
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst, you will become an essential component in the UST program, assisting with implementing the UST Financial Responsibility Act. The UST Fund is a mechanism for owners to comply with requirements and ensure leaks from USTs are cleaned up in an accordance with regulations. You will:
  • Conduct compliance reviews and inspections to ensure conformance with regulations.
  • Review compliance and reimbursement applications for program eligibility.
  • Prepare grant applications, technical summaries and reporting related to LUST topics.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal and external partners, document and present recommendations, and represent RIDEM and NEIWPCC at scientific conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Ideally the candidate will have:
  • A degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field, and at least three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of or experience with USTs, environmental regulations, environmental remediation, construction project management principals, construction contracting and evaluation of vendor qualifications.
  • Excellent computer capability, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with a variety of partners.
Applicants with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.

Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management office located in Providence, RI. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting. Occasional travel will be needed, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. After six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, subject to approval and program needs. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
 
What We Offer
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.
