Endurance Equipment LLC is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and detail-orientated Design Engineering Manager to join our team in our Irvington, AL office. The successful candidate will be responsible to lead a heavy equipment engineering/design team supporting the forest products industry. Overseeing the development of fabrication packages for log handling and log processing systems for Sawmills, OSB Mills and Plywood Mills as well as for other related forest products. This position will work closely with an integrated team to maintain and develop industry leading products.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Supervise the Design/Drafting Team, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration among team members;
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables from sales drawings and specifications;
  • Maintain project portfolio engineering schedule;
  • Maintain and improve upon department standards and procedures;
  • Coordinate closely with sales team and company leadership to define project scope;
  • Oversee layout and general arrangement drawings of proposed project scope;
  • Perform calculations to validate sales specs, select power transmission components and size steel members;
  • Oversee development of detail design packages for equipment fabrication;
  • Coordinate with customers regarding design reviews and approval packages;
  • Conduct drawing package checking and participate in 3D model reviews to insure quality control;
  • Coordination with shop supervisor for continuous improvement;
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering/design team;
  • Provide on-site assistance during installation and startup.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Or Equivalent);
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in machinery and equipment engineering/design with preferred emphasis in forest products industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of manufacturing/fabrication/machining practices;
  • Knowledge and application of material handling systems;
  • Ability to size structural members, plating, shafting, etc.;
  • Ability to size and select mechanical power transmission components;
  • Ability to develop engineering/design schedules;
  • Knowledge and application of design and CAD drafting standards;
  • Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD;
  • General knowledge of 3D design software - Inventor or Solidworks;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Virtual team and relationship development skills;
  • Ability to work minimal to no supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time;
  • Ability to Climb stairs and ladders.
