A Quality Engineer works to ensure the overall quality of manufactured products meet Intergalactic's and customer's standards/requirements. The Quality Engineer test processes, monitors quality standards, creates documentation, devises quality plans and defines criteria that should be meet. The Quality Engineer will work with teams to continuously improve Intergalactic's products and processes.

EXPECTED TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management
  • Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs
  • Ensures that products meet the organization's and customers' quality and product integrity requirements.
  • Daily meetings with the Engineering, Program management and the factory team
  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies
  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Regularly generate and publish Quality metrics
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and participating in Corrective Action Boards (CAB)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experienced with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment that requires prioritization and flexibility to support competing requirements
  • Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Six Sigma or ASQ Certification
  • Data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics
  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word Visio)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication and networking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to serve as a liaison with developers, project managers, and customer support

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Flexible work schedule. A traditional M-F schedule or 9-80 may be chosen. Core business hours will be 9 am to 3 pm. A 40-hour work week is expected with times where extra may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • The Quality Engineer has no direct supervisory responsibility.
  • May assist with hiring quality engineers.
  • Mentors and trains junior quality engineers on policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires sitting, walking, or standing for several hours at a time. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, open cabinets, bend, or stand on a stool as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in an indoor office environment, as well as a moderately noisy shop environment, and routinely interacts with other crew members and customers. This role routinely uses both paper and electronic record keeping systems and communication equipment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

20% or less travel is expected for this position. Infrequent travel to suppliers, customers, or other locations is expected.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in related configuration management, Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Candidate must have solid written and verbal skills to effectively interact with other functional organizations.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder
