What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $173,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to:

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work three (3) days in office at Denver International Airport. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
 

What You’ll Do

Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a Supervisor of Airfield Design and Construction to lead the airside infrastructure team of DEN’s Design, Engineering and Construction Division. The team is responsible for implementing runway, taxiway, gate apron, utility and storm water/drainage projects. This is an opportunity to lead and build upon a great project management team consisting of approximately 12 team members.
 
 
Specifically, as the Supervisor of Airfield Design and Construction, you will:
 
  • Supervise and direct the work of the DEN Airside Infrastructure Team.
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with stakeholders, working directly with DEN Planning, DEN Operations, DEN sustainability and others to help drive projects.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and supervision to project managers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop comprehensive annual project delivery work plans and strategies
  • Provide technical expertise and act as the subject matter expert for involved parties.
  • Establish design and construction schedules and monitor progress of various projects and their conformances to schedules.
 

What You’ll Bring

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
 
  • Construction management experience in an airport environment or 24/7/365 campus equivalent
 
  • Project management experience with $1 million plus budgets
  • Experience leading teams who manage a portfolio of large, complex projects
  • Contract management experience
  • Experience in team mentoring, coaching and fostering an engaged team
  • Fiscal or P&L experience managing an annual operations budget that exceeds $1 million.
 

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of senior engineering or architecture experience.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application. Or requires registration as an Architect by the Colorado State Board of Registration at the time of application. Registration in another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado registration at completion of probation. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.

  • FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
  • Snow/Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
