Help protect the natural environment and public health for the communities of New York by joining NEIWPCC as a full-time Wastewater Infrastructure Project Manager or Environmental Engineer and manage the assessment, replacement, and maintenance of wastewater treatment infrastructure in the New York City water supply watershed.
 
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Project Manager or Environmental Engineer, you will:

• Perform site inspections, meet with wastewater treatment plant owners, review contract documents, evaluate scopes of work for eligible projects, and coordinate with compliance staff of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
• Be responsible for preparing and reviewing internal and external progress reports pursuant to New York City and State requirements.
• Be responsible for computer-based tracking and monitoring of program accomplishments, contract budgets, project coordination, payments, and related documentation.

 
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. We are seeking candidates with:

• Either 5-10 years of wastewater facility operations and maintenance experience, or candidates with two years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering.
• Understanding of National and/or State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES/SPDES) permit program inspection processes and the operation of wastewater treatment utilities and facility reconstruction.
• Experience with or knowledge of tertiary wastewater treatment processes.
• Excellent computer skills (including word processing, spreadsheets and databases), effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to perform basic statistical analysis.
• The possession of a current wastewater treatment operator’s license for the state of New York, or a professional engineer's license and current registration from a State or Territory of the United States is a plus.

Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.
 
Position Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in the New York City Department of Environmental Protection office in Kingston, NY. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting with occasional travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. After six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, subject to approval and program needs. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
 
What We Offer
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $70,000 to $93,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees:
