Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking two Transportation Technicians to join the Field Exploration Services Unit as Geotechnical Drillers/Helpers. These are in-training opportunities. Duties will require highly physical, manual labor. At the Transportation Technician 1 and 2 levels, the incumbent will assist the driller and drilling inspector in advancing geotechnical borings, performing in situ testing, installing instrumentation in the borings, and designing various types of work safety zones. At the Transportation Technician 3 level, the incumbent will work as skilled journey-level technician performing geotechnical field exploration testing and sampling as a driller/helper for the State Geotechnical Office on a statewide basis, while continuing to design and maintain various types of work safety zones.
