Signature Research, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Houghton, Michigan area.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved in all aspects, from conceptual design to final product assembly. WHAT YOU WILL DO.

• Modeling and simulation.
• Testing and evaluation.
• Prototyping.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Mechanical Engineering Technology required; Master’s degree a bonus.
• 3 or more years’ experience designing complex mechanical systems from initial concept to release and includes component, assembly, and weldment level models and drawings.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
• Strong knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Knowledge in design for manufacturing processes.
• Experience in developing creative solutions to challenging development issues.
• Willingness to be hands-on in solving engineering issues during prototyping and final manufacturing stages of programs.
• Strong communication skills with an ability to confidently interact with internal and external customers.
• Ability to travel throughout the United States, occasionally (up to 25%).
• The successful applicant must either possess an active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance, or meet the requirements necessary to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Ability to work in-office in the Houghton, Michigan area is required. If not in the immediate area, one must be willing to relocate to the Houghton, Michigan region, or surrounding area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

SKILLS THAT PUT YOU OVER THE TOP.

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Knowledge in additive manufacturing technologies and supporting classified programs.
• Hands-on mechanic experience (professional or as a hobby).
• Experience working Ground Combat Vehicle Survivability to include signature management.
