Job Description:

LCRA is looking for a Substation Engineer to join our team. As a part of LCRA’s Substation Engineering Group, your expertise will contribute to the design and analysis of the transmission system in an organization that strives to enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve. LCRA needs someone with authoritative knowledge of high voltage electrical substation design principles and can provide guidance for younger engineers, construction crews, and management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing high voltage substations and should be able to review and design relay/control projects. The ideal teammate should be able to produce specifications for major equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches. Provide feedback to review and approve vendor drawings to keep projects moving.

This is a hybrid position. Posted salary is anticipated and not official.

You will be trusted to:

• Design high voltage substation relay and control drawing packages.

• Scope substation projects and support the procurement of major equipment.

• Prepare drawings for construction as well as review and approve other engineer's construction packages.

• Evaluate and revise substation engineering procedures, design tools, and provide recommendations.

• Coordinate and perform substation ground grid inspections/tests to ensure safe electrical designs for employees and to the general public.

• Interface with equipment manufacturers, structural, system protection, construction personnel, consultants, vendors, and management regarding substation equipment, reliability, and research.

• Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams and serve as a subject matter expert and represent LCRA on external committees, conferences, and other groups.

• Coach and help develop younger engineers, oversee their progress and development.

You qualify with:

- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
- Driver's license

Ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing high voltage substations (69kV - 345kV). Have extensive knowledge about substation major equipment and factory test procedures. Be able to design relay and control projects. Be able to create technical specifications for substation equipment & review vendor drawings.
