Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct environmental support to the Kansas City site with additional environmental and Sustainability responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provides support in the management and servicing of the environmental components of the RC14001/ISO14001.
  • Submit data required to satisfy environmental permit and reporting requirements (air, water, waste). 
  • Prepare permitting documents, including multiple air permit modifications each year, and environmental reports by third-party providers.
  • Responsible for waste compliance (Haz and Non-Haz).
  • Promote a proactive, positive environmental culture by increasing employee involvement,  education, and training.
  • Collect environmental data to identify trends and improve performance.
  • Investigate non-compliance events to determine contributing factors and recommend actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Liaises with regulatory agencies on matters related to reporting, investigations/inspections and negotiating compliance concerns.
  • Develop and deliver regulatory-required training related to environmental performance.
  • Assists in tracking sustainability performance metrics.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering (e.g., Chemical Engineer, Environmental Engineer or equivalent) or Environmental Science.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of environmental experience in chemicals/refining/process industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • An independent, self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task and administer a broad range of duties.
  • Ability to perform physical inspections of all operating areas at assigned sites.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to coach, teach and counsel and be comfortable speaking to groups.
