Description:

Take direction from lead designer/field coordinator for updating a large drawing set, mostly electrical and I&C drawings. Coordinate with different engineering disciplines for input into design documents. As-build existing systems, plan and prepare construction documents, including layouts, sketches, and drawings involving a high degree of difficulty and complexity under the technical guidance of project leadership.

 

• Advanced knowledge of the basis of design in a chosen design discipline. Working knowledge of interfacing disciplines including nuclear plant maintenance and operations, regulations and standards controlling nuclear plant design and documentation, task estimating, and scheduling techniques. • Highly developed design ability to provide the foundation from which to direct and control the solution of the most complex design problems. Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with personnel communications of both technical and administrative natures. Leadership ability to deal effectively with personnel development, disciplinary and work control matters. • The incumbent must have the ability to understand and apply and model the Company Core Values (Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Mutual Respect and Trust through open and honest communication).

Coordinate daily activities in the performance of a wide variety of routine and special assignments. • Review completed work for compliance with design input, drafting standards and design principles, engineering criteria, procedures, and specifications. Assignments may differ significantly from established drafting precedents. • Provide assistance to others to research and resolve problems, conflicts and discrepancies encountered during drawing revisions.

• Employ expert-level techniques in both manual and CADD drafting. • Closely monitor the performance of drafting activities to ensure efficient practices, conformance to established standards and quality of work. • Encourage the use of proper drafting and CADD techniques to achieve the highest quality of product and efficiency of process. • Ensure that drafting efforts are in conformance with engineering requirements, design control, document control and records retention. • Work closely with designers, engineers and other customers to ensure clear definition of their needs in the preparation of plans, details, and diagrams. • Lead field investigations of systems, structures and components to resolve questions, gather information and complete assignments as necessary.

• Prepare design documentation in support of engineering tasks. • Provide technical leadership to peers and junior drafters and checkers, on a task basis. Provide expert assistance in resolving working problems in technical input, in documentation and in computer application. • Check drawings completed by others for accuracy and compatibility with design criteria, functional direction and other associated design inputs. Ensure completeness, legibility and conformance to standards and drafting and CADD techniques.

 

Qualifications:

Requires an Associate’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and three years of highly technical design experience sufficient to provide working knowledge of nuclear plant system, structure, and component documentation, design, and controlling standards and regulations; OR a high school diploma or GED and six years of highly technical design experience sufficient to provide working knowledge of nuclear plant system, structure, and component documentation, design, and controlling standards and regulations. 5 Years in related Field.

 

Proficiency in both Instrument and Controls and Electrical design specifically at commercial nuclear power plants. 8+ Years in related field. CADD Desired not required.

 

Highly Skilled in AutoCAD. Proficiency in various software systems including: Asset Suite, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
