The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking an interested and qualified individual to fill the Maintenance Engineer (Civil Engineer Transportation Advanced) vacancy in the Bureau of Highway Maintenance.

This full-time position is headquartered in Madison, WI.

This position involves monitoring and evaluating highway maintenance programs to help assure uniformity and consistency in the implementation of departmental policy, programs, and goals.  This position requires extensive communication and coordination with the five DTSD regional offices, other WisDOT bureaus and divisions, other state agencies, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), legislators, county highway departments, businesses, and the public. The responsibilities of this position require independent professional judgment and highly technical expertise.

This position manages asset management programs for the bureau, such as the Culvert Asset Management Program (CAMP) and the Salt Shed Asset Management program.   Management of these programs include tracking condition, location, and inspection cycles for these assets.  This position will use GIS applications and work with others in the bureau to make updates/improvements to tools used in the program areas. 

This position also manages the Performance-Based Maintenance (PBM) and Discretionary Maintenance Agreement (DMA) programs for the bureau.  This includes tracking and managing program budgets, region projects, and allocating funds to the regions.

This position prepares, writes, edits, publishes, and maintains the performance-based maintenance sections within the Department of Transportation Highway Maintenance Manual (HMM). This includes leading and facilitating other authors through the development of new and revision of existing HMM chapters. 

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $88,296 to $106,808, plus excellent benefits. Plus, an additional $2,080 per year for a Professional Engineer License. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
