Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm specializing in geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, geology, and geophysics. AESI has provided these services in the Puget Sound region to municipal, commercial, and residential clients since 1981. OPPORTUNITY AND IMPACT 

We are seeking an experienced and licensed geotechnical engineer to join our Team. Your engineering expertise will support schools, public service buildings, municipal, and commercial projects in your local community. You will see projects from site characterization and through design and construction. You’ll be engaged and challenged by diverse responsibilities encompassing traditional engineering analyses, natural hazards assessments, and construction support.

Refine your understanding of the local soils and groundwater by collaborating with regional experts in geology and hydrogeology. 


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform engineering analyses, including retaining walls, pile foundations, and slope stability, utilizing software such as CLiq and SlopeW. 

  • Complete site characterization, including planning, scheduling, and participating in field exploration programs, selecting, and reviewing laboratory testing, and assessing natural hazards such as liquefaction, seismic site response, and steep slope stability. 

  • Prepare technical reports. 

  • Manage projects, including scoping, budgeting, preparing proposals and contract documents, and reviewing field reports. 

  • Mentor and guide early career staff. 

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders including clients, contractors, regulatory officials. 

  •  Use and working knowledge of common programs (Office 365, Teams, Adobe). 

  • Develop and maintain client relationships. 

  • This is a Full-time opportunity. 


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering 

  • Washington Professional Engineer (P.E.) License 

  • 5-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience 


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Local geotechnical engineering experience, particularly in the Puget Sound lowlands. 

  • Familiarity with the regional geology 

  • Familiarity with the regulations of area municipalities 

  • Experience in performing the essential duties outlined above. 


 

DAILY WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Generally, office-based work using a PC. Various site visits throughout the Puget Sound Region  

  • Flexible Hybrid work schedule 

  • Driver’s license and current insurance 

  • Personal vehicle to travel between offices and job sites (mileage reimbursable for project travel) 

  • Background Check Required 

  • Already Reside in the Puget Sound region or already be in motion to relocate. We do not offer relocation assistance. 

  • Occasional fieldwork in variable weather conditions at construction sites. 

  • No overnight travel required. 


 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE 

Salary Range: $85,000-$120,000+ per year
