SUMMARY

This is a full-time, exempt professional position that independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard professional techniques and procedures related to water treatment and/or storm water design, and the assessment and remediation of petroleum contaminated sites. This position works independently on small projects, and assists on larger, more complex projects; as well as takes responsibility for planning and executing work assignments.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as Project Manager for projects with a budget ranging from $50,000 to $300,000. Develops and implements project plans and schedules; reviews project accounts; assigns, oversees, and evaluates project staff; and communicates with clients; ability to multitask is imperative. Designs projects according to valid engineering principals and oversees implementation.
  • Serves as lead technical consultant or reviewer impacting the technical excellence of the project and company.
  • Interacts directly with clients and prospective clients; places strong emphasis on marketing Water &Air’s services, including cross selling all lines of business.
  • Creates proposals and develops costs for potential projects dealing with installation of monitoring wells, remediation system installations, and restoration projects. Creates budgets, designs scopes of work, conducts presentations, and negotiates contract terms.
  • Demonstrates skills in technical writing.
  • Researches and maintains marketing contacts, including client visits. Generates work equivalent to own direct, and indirect, salary and the salary of a supporting technician.
  • Manages, trains, coordinates, and reviews fieldwork of technicians and junior technical staff; may perform fieldwork to include sampling monitoring wells, overseeing the installation of monitoring wells, screening soil samples with an OVA, overseeing remediation system installations, and conducting routine operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Obtains updates and maintains plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluates data associated with various projects for use in defining extent of contamination and makes recommendations for developing feasibility studies for possible remediation.
  • Represents the company at technical and trade organization meetings. May conduct presentations and/or posters as appropriate to feature the relevant quality work of the company.
  • May be assigned to serve as Group Manager.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering or related engineering field with 8+ years of related experience; Florida Professional License (PE). Strong technical writing ability and project management experience. Personal cell phone with active contract and valid driver’s license are also required. Strongly Preferred: OSHA training. Direct experience with the FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program. Familiarity with field sampling techniques and remediation system operation and maintenance. Working knowledge of petroleum or chemical remediation and familiarity with surface water modeling is a plus.
