Job Description:

 

Martin/Martin, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Engineer/Team Manager to lead our Water/Wastewater Treatment Team in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This senior-level engineer will be primarily focused on water and wastewater projects, including treatment for projects located in Colorado, the Southwest, across the U.S. and in international locations. Team size less than 10.

A typical work week includes team management, mentoring junior engineers on the Water/Wastewater team, marketing and business development, engineering calculations, design development, site visits, etc. This position requires interactions with owners, architects, contractors, etc. as well as proven marketing and business expertise.
 

This is an opportunity to work on premier projects in the Rocky Mountain Region, nationally and internationally. Martin/Martin has been involved in water and wastewater projects with the National Park Service for over 30 years and has traveled across the U.S. and to Mexico and Antarctica for treatment related projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Assist in master planning and conceptual design for water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Contribute to fee determination and proposal preparation for client engagement.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned engineering projects, from the start of design through the completion of construction.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Manage and mentor a team of civil engineers and CAD technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Client Interaction and Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with Clients, Contractors, and other design disciplines.
  • Engage with project stakeholders proactively, including managing partners, joint venture Executive Board, federal authorities, local landowners, business owners, and regulatory bodies.

Technical Expertise and Project Oversight:

  • Provide technical insight during project pursuits and bid interviews.
  • Assess initial project contracts, resolving specification, contract conflicts, and scheduling issues.
  • Oversee project and construction management decisions, identifying project risks, negotiating change orders, and ensuring efficient project production.

Financial Management:

  • Assist with monitoring design budgets and project schedules.
  • Monitor project budgets, review and/or approve invoicing to clients, and participate in collection and account receivable efforts.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Support and promote project safety by ensuring compliance with safety programs, procedures, and owner safety policies.
  • Review weekly safety reports and participate in monthly safety review meetings with project personnel.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Develop and manage the project schedule, pay estimates, project procedures, and equipment resources.
  • Present monthly project reports to Flatiron Executive Leadership.

Legal and Contractual Resolution:

  • Resolve dispute resolutions with project owners in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Engage Company legal counsel and Executive leadership, where necessary.

Project Closeout and Debrief:

  • Lead project closeout procedures, finalizing contract paperwork, obtaining retainages, and resolving any project claims.
  • Lead the project debrief cycle to review all aspects of project work and completion.

Continuous Improvement and Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide input on equipment procurement methods and contracts.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.

Requirements

 

  

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, including 10+ years water/wastewater treatment
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.
  • Registered PE license in the State of Colorado or ability to obtain one within 3 months

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Min 10 years experience in water/wastewater treatment.
  • Min 10 years experience with PE license.
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering.
  • Knowledge or proficiency with Civil3D, FlowMaster, BioWin. 
  • Construction and operations field experience.
  • Shows strong interest in participating in company initiatives.
  • Excellent time management and organizational and management skills with technical staff on multiple, simultaneous projects.
