Package Test Engineer

Tensile Strength, Gross Leak, Burst, Impact, and other tests.

Must have:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Packaging or Packaging emphasis, or equivalent technical education degree.
  • 3-5 years of previous work experience in packaging, product testing, or related industry is required.
  • Experienced with reading and interpreting documents such as protocols, industry specifications (ASTM, ISTA), and procedures.
  • Able to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

 

Position Summary:

The Package Engineer will demonstrate excellence and consistency in conducting transit and medical device sterile barrier testing. The key team member contributes as a key liaison to client support while developing in-depth experience to provide training and assessment for all package testing employees, as well as handling special projects. They will continue to develop a higher understanding and learning for more complex testing requests.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Primarily support Test Engineers in conducting package testing for clients.
  • Experience conducting more complex client testing requires a further understanding of testing standards defined by ISTA and ASTM standards, customer requirements, and the Company Quality Management System.
  • Interpret data to recognize and identify deviations, provide client insight, and data interpretation for Tier One Clients or client present testing.
  • Provide recommendations to customers on ways they can improve their packaging where there are failures during testing.
  • Subject matter expert for Transit Testing and material testing. This involves supporting the production floor for engineers and technicians.
  • Designated trainer and coach.
  • Provide practical training to support proficiency development utilizing their knowledge of ASTM, ISTA standards, customer protocols, and the Company QMS.
  • Ensure order accuracy and quality through document control, standard operating procedures, and auditing.
  • Monitors and provides responsive customer communication regarding testing services provided.
  • Update customer on test status, updates, results explanation, and consultation for improvements and recommendations.
  • Interpret protocols to design special packaging projects and fixtures as needed to support client testing.
  • Maintain various site standards and expectations.

Education:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Packaging or Packaging emphasis, or equivalent technical education degree.

Capabilities:

  • 3-5 years of previous work experience in packaging, product testing, or related industry is required.
  • 3-5 years of previous working laboratory experience preferred, ideally in conducting product/packaging testing.
  • Experienced with reading and interpreting documents such as protocols, industry specifications (ASTM, ISTA), and procedures.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and general computer literacy.
  • Math skills: Advanced algebra, statistical analysis, and geometry.
  • Ability to establish effective working and team relationships with customer service staff in a collaborative manner.
  • Machine / Software usage knowledge.
  • Ability to lift bulky items, which can weigh 50 pounds, climb, bend, and reach without restriction.
  • Fast learner and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Demonstrates strong accountability.
