NEW HIGHER SALARY: $36,682 - $55,512
 
The Challenge
We are looking for 2+ skilled Automotive Mechanic/Equipment Repair Technician II's to join our Forsyth County Equipment team.
 
In this role, you will:
  • Perform skilled mechanic work involving services and repair of mechanical systems of gasoline/diesel/alternative fuel-powered automotive and heavy equipment.
  • Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and service on simple to highly complex mechanical systems using advanced diagnostic instruments and software.
  • Conduct parts/systems failure analysis.
  • Calibrate, adjust, and operate engine analyzers.
  • Routinely determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work varying in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system and ancillary components/equipment.
  • Perform recurring and non-recurring work such as electrical, suspensions, brake system repairs, and /or fitting and repairing more complex ancillary and specialized equipment.
  • Consult with a senior technicians or supervisor on complex cases.
 
What You Bring
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy duty trucks, or heavy equipment.
  • A complete set of mechanic tools.
  • Experience diagnosing basic electrical systems and proper wiring repairs.
  • Hydraulic system repair experience, including component replacement and hoses.
  •  Ability to repair and maintain automotive and heavy equipment, and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to prepare employment and equipment repair paperwork.
  • Communications skills to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Agility and strength to move parts and materials necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes, and work in an indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to provide safe working environment by leading by example.
  • Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
  • Strength to move relatively heavy objects and perform heavy lifting.
  • Safety toe shoes.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker "N" endorsement. (If you don't have it, still APPLY.  You can gain it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
 
Notes
  • We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and background check for your past 2 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
  • You will be required to work during adverse weather conditions such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
 
Education & Experience
  • High School/GED diploma, and
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
