Another Source’s client, Sabey Data Centers is recruiting an Data Center Assistant Operations Manager to join their team in Manhattan, NY. This role will work Monday through Friday on site at the Manhattan location.

The importance this role has in our organization:   

The Data Center Assistant Operations Manager is a vital role that supports the overall management and operation of the data center. This position is responsible for helping oversee data center infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and maintaining optimal performance of all data center services. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager to implement strategies, manage day-to-day operations, and lead a team of technical staff. 

 

Salary Range: $102,197 - $158,404 DOE 

 

Your contribution will likely be:  

 

Operational Management: 

  • Service Availability: Ensure maximum uptime for all data center services. Implement proactive measures to prevent service disruptions and rapidly address any issues that arise. 
  • Facility Oversight: Manage all aspects of data center facilities, including power distribution systems, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and physical security measures. 
  • Operational Procedures: Develop, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine operations, emergency response, and disaster recovery. Regularly review and update these procedures to reflect changing technologies and best practices. 

Team Leadership: 

  • Supervise and guide the operations team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance reviews. 
  • Team Development: Identify skill gaps in the team and organize training programs to address these gaps. Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement. 
  • Workplace Culture: Cultivate an inclusive and supportive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and mutual respect. 

Incident Response: 

  • Maintain an incident response plan for data center emergencies, including power failures, security breaches, and hardware failures. 
  • Conduct regular drills and training sessions for the team to ensure preparedness. 

Vendor Management: 

  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers, service providers, and contractors. 
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). 

Project Management: 

  • Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. 
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including IT, security, facilities, and senior management, to ensure alignment on project objectives and outcomes. 

Performance Monitoring: 

  • Regularly analyze data center metrics such as power usage, cooling efficiency, and server utilization. 
  • Propose and implement optimization strategies for energy efficiency and cost reduction. 
  • Prepare and present regular reports on data center performance to senior management. 

Budget Management: 

  • Assist in the development and management of the data center's budget. 
  • Ensure financial activities align with organizational goals and compliance standards. 

Compliance, Security, and Safety: 

  • Ensure the data center adheres to industry compliance standards like ISO 27001, SOC 2, etc. 
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and safety regulations.  

 

Essential Functions 

  • Interface with technology and operate digital tools.  
  • This job requires flexibility to work any shift and/or on weekends. 
  • May be required to carry on-call phone, weekend work/overtime will be required to support certain maintenance activities or emergencies. 
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction. 
  • Ability to interact with all levels of Sabey employees and business partners – must be able to build and maintain strong professional relationships. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or relevant industry experience (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.). 
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining critical facilities required.  
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership. 

 

Minimum Competencies: 

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, without compromising quality of work.  
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language – excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of Sabey employees and business partners. 
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. 
  • Strong working knowledge of critical environment facility systems (electrical, mechanical, controls, etc.) 
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and vendors. 
  • Must be able to manage risk and resources. 
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to maintain a strong focus on attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite– Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc. 
  • Must be committed to continuous learning and growing within the organization.

We offer a competitive salary range for this position, between $99,220 - $153,700 per year DOE. The final compensation package will be tailored to your qualifications and the expertise you bring to the role; we anticipate an attractive starting salary between $99,220 - $126,506 per year.
