Department Summary

Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is a vibrant department, which comprises five units, and approximately 270 employees: Facilities Services, Utilities & Energy, Campus Planning, Office of Sustainability, and Design & Construction. The units of CPFM strive to provide excellent customer service to the University of Oregon campus and operate with the highest professional standards, communicating and collaborating with customers to support the stewardship of the campus.

Facilities Services (FS) is responsible for the management of human, financial and material resources, the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures related to the operation, maintenance, repair and minor renovation of university buildings, grounds and infrastructure systems. These services provide the University of Oregon community with a safe, efficient, reliable, functional and aesthetically pleasing learning environment in support of the University’s mission and vision.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Support Supervisor oversees the Maintenance Support team. The key responsibilities of this position include managing and directing the workflow of the Maintenance Support, and Moving Services. In this capacity, the position supports all of Facilities Services maintenance activities, including, but not limited to, Mechanical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Paint, Grounds, Custodial, etc.

This position will collaborate with a wide spectrum of staff, including CPFM leadership, to determine methods for improving the system as well as communication and outreach planning. Vital to this position is the aptitude to work independently with the capacity to make appropriate judgements and decisions associated with maintenance and construction activities, procuring materials, contractors, program development, and project improvements.

Interactions/contacts occur daily with other Facilities Services shops and with the campus and larger community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies.

Work is reviewed regularly by the Building Systems Associate Director to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually. This position may supervise student employees as the need arises.

Work Conditions
Regularly working in high places, in tunnels, outside in extreme temperatures, active construction sites, and in shop and office settings.

Driver’s Certification
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.

Essential Personnel
This unit provides essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.

Minimum Requirements

• Four (4) years of experience leading trades personnel
• Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience in the areas below OR four (4) years of clearly demonstrated, cumulative experience in the areas below:

o Experience managing a budget, either from a construction management or business setting.
o Experience supervising union personnel and collective bargaining agreements.
o Experience in facilities management in the public sector (State facility, college, university, or other public multi-facility complex)
