Electrical Engineer (I, II, III, Senior I or Senior II)


This position will be hired at the I, II, III, Senior I or Senior II level, contingent on the experience of the selected candidate.


Electrical Engineer I: Overview
The Electrical Engineer I performs basic entry level analysis, design and construction of electrical power and communication systems and assists with project management activities related to the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of hydroelectric generation plants and related facilities such as switchyards, substations, etc. The position requires entry-level knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures, including materials, equipment, and techniques, used in professional level work in the field of electrical engineering and project management. The position works under close or continuing supervision and requires limited exercise of judgment when developing designs and design criteria, determining methodology and developing alternatives.


Electrical Engineer II: Overview
The Electrical Engineer II  position performs fundamental engineering calculations, analysis, design and construction support of low complexity electrical power and communication systems and may assist with project management activities related to the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of hydroelectric generation plants and related facilities such as switchyards, substations, etc. Plans, scopes, schedules, and conducts engineering work with technical guidance and oversight from supervisor or higher-level engineers.

 

Electrical Engineer III: Overview
The Electrical Engineer III performs electrical engineering, analysis, and project management activities of medium complexity in the electrical power generation field. Plan, scope, schedule and conduct engineering work requiring independent judgment for a variety of projects and facilities such as hydroelectric plants, switchyards and substations. May act as the design engineer and/or the project manager for on moderately complex, lower risk projects. . Interacts with engineering consultants, crew superintendents, foreman and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve problems during design, construction, or installation.

Electrical Engineer Senior I: Overview
The Electrical Engineer Senior I performs technically complex electrical engineering design, analysis, and project management in the electrical power generation field. Plan, scope, schedule and conduct complex and/or technically sophisticated engineering work requiring independent judgment for a variety of projects and facilities such as hydro-electric plants, switchyards and substations, including work done by engineering consultants. May act as the lead engineer or project manager on moderately complex projects. Has technical responsibility for preliminary and final designs and design criteria. Interacts with crew superintendents, foreman and contractors, other utilities, and regulatory agencies to troubleshoot and resolve problems during construction or installation.


Electrical Engineer Senior II: Overview
The Electrical Engineer Senior II performs complex engineering design, analysis, and project management in the electrical power generation field. Plan, scope, schedule and conduct complex and/or technically sophisticated engineering work requiring independent judgment for a variety of projects and facilities such as hydro electric plants, switchyards and substations, including work done by engineering consultants. May act as lead design engineer, project engineer or project manager on complex. Has technical responsibility for preliminary and final designs and design criteria. Leads project teams and Interacts with crew superintendents, foreman and contractors, other utilities, and regulatory agencies to troubleshoot and resolve problems during construction or installation.
 

Qualifications

Electrical Engineer I, II, III: Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • Bachelor's Degree (B. S., B. A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineer in Training) achieved by passing the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam preferred.

Electrical Engineer Senior I: Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • Bachelor's Degree (B. S., B. A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in WA state desired

Electrical Engineer Senior II: Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • Bachelor's Degree (B. S., B. A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in WA state preferred

Electrical Engineer I: Experience

  • Candidates with experience in a hydro generation and/or with an electric utility are preferred.

Electrical Engineer II: Experience

  • 2+ years Experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. required. and
  • Experience must include examples of successful application of basic electrical engineering in the form of reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings Participation in data collection and field research or inspections. required.

Electrical Engineer III: Experience

  • 4+ years Experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity required. and
  • Experience must include examples of successful application of fundamental electrical engineering in the form of reports, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; development of design alternatives. required.

Electrical Engineer Senior I: Experience

  • 6+ years Experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. required. and
  • Experience must include examples of successful application of engineering in the form of reports, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; knowledge of construction turnover/testing and commissioning; and proper identification of appropriate codes and standards for a wide variety of situations. required.

Electrical Engineer Senior II Experience

  • 8+ years Experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. required. and
  • Experience must include examples of successful application of complex engineering in the form of reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; knowledge of construction turnover/testing and commissioning. required.

Electrical Engineer I , II, III, Senior I, Senior II: Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire required
