OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second largest municipal utility in Florida committed to serving the community and the environment is presently recruiting for a Senior Account Representative to be part of our growing team in the Customer Experience & Sales division.

We are looking for a highly motivated and goal-driven sales professional with strong communication and negotiation skills who will be integral in offering value-added energy-related products, services, and solutions to OUC’s existing and future commercial line of business, and who can assist with achieving our vision of being an innovative solutions leader and the partner of choice.

In this role, you will be responsible for serving as liaison to OUC’s key commercial and industrial accounts providing account support, technical assistance and support for project and business opportunities related to OUC services and programs. This includes identifying, developing and implementing complex solutions for these customers.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related technical field, from an accredited college or university (In lieu of a degree, equivalent combination of education, training, certification and directly related experience may be substitutable on a 1:1 basis);
  • A minimum of five (5) years of commercial customer service experience to include:
    • A minimum of three (3) years of key account representative experience consisting of large commercial and industrial customers/accounts;
  • Certifications for at least one (1) of the following is preferred:
    • Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), Certified Business Energy Professional (BEP) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM), or U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), or LEED Green Associate (LEED GA);
  • Must complete within eighteen (18) months of employment:
    • Candidates with LEED AP, LEED GA, or AEE BEP must achieve AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Demand Side Manager (CDSM) certification
  • Must complete within one (1) year of employment:
    • Achieve APPA Key Accounts certification
  • Strong sales aptitude with ability to meet/exceed performance metrics and sales quotas
  • Experience working either within or servicing to the energy/utility industry is preferred but not required

Job Purpose:

Serve as liaison to OUC’s key major commercial accounts and large commercial accounts, providing recommendations of service options, addressing and coordinating all energy-related services offerings.

Establish and maintain personalized customer-focused relationships to support account issues and needs, provide technical assistance, and facilitate account project and business opportunities related to OUC services and programs.  

Primary Functions:

  • Establish, maintain, and develop positive relationships and advocacy with OUC’s major commercial and strategic accounts; relevant industry and community stakeholders; proactively assess account needs through consistent direct customer contact (i.e. calls, site visits, written correspondence, presentations), and meeting facilitation while responding expeditiously to problems;
  • Analyze customer operations, consumption data and billing history to identify trends; advise customers on potential rate impacts, technical solutions, causes of high consumption/demand, and beneficial OUC programs, services, and technologies; provide energy efficiency recommendations;
  • Respond to complex inquiries and proactively report causes of power and water quality events; coordinate any necessary follow-up communication and information necessary to assist in resolving issues related to the events; maintain documentation of customer interactions; 
  • Coach, mentor and guide other team members and support personnel;
  • Research, identify, and analyze opportunities for promotion and sell of OUC services (i.e. lighting, chilled water, EV charging stations, etc.) with both existing and future/new development accounts;
  • Conduct financial analysis of proposed projects; prepare proposals; and negotiate related agreements/contracts; prepare and process contract documentation; follow-up to ensure timely delivery of services and proper billing;
  • Identify new business development opportunities and enhancement of existing OUC services maintaining a thorough knowledge of related business, technology, and regulatory issues;
  • Collaborate with developers and contractors to support services provided to commercial customers;
  • Attend trade and professional association meetings and other events; to represent OUC and obtaining business development intelligence;
  • Stay current on industry competition, market segment trends, new/upcoming technology, and regulatory and legal issues pertaining to OUC’s large/strategic commercial customers;
  • Engage in frequent face-to-face interaction with large, key customer account customers and resolving issues;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:
    • Electric & water distribution metering infrastructure;
    • Commercial and industrial energy and water efficiency measures and technology;
    • Customer energy and water use purposes, capacity requirements, and rate structures
    • PSERM/CC&B;
    • OUC utility infrastructure serving the customer;
    • Electric and water distribution and metering infrastructure;
    • Commercial and industrial facilities including applicable energy and water efficiency measures and technologies;
    • Analyzing and presenting sustainability offerings;
    • Drafting service contracts and agreements;
    • Customer energy and water use purposes, capacity requirements, and rate structures;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and listening skills;
  • Ability to work after normal work hours, weekends, holidays; occasional travel and attendance of functions after normal working hours;
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, rates, ratios and percentages;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.);

Working Conditions:

This job involves occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements (dust, heat, fumes, cold, noise, vibration, wetness, etc.) and accidents are improbable other than minor injuries.

Physical Requirements:

This job consists of speaking, hearing, typing and writing. This job consists of reading and repetitive motions. Additionally, this job will require driving of a company vehicle. This job may consist of sitting, walking and standing. This job may consist of lifting up to twenty (20) lbs., bending/ stooping, reaching over head and climbing (ladders, hills, stairs, etc.).
