Aviation Ground Equipment Corp. is seeking a motivated, hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, test, and troubleshooting of diesel engine-driven Aircraft Power generator systems for our growing Aerospace & Defense facility.
We are a fast-growing manufacturer of Military Ground Support Equipment. We provide support for General Aviation and Government agencies around the globe, Prime Contractors, MRO (maintenance and repair operations), Contract Manufacturers, Distributors, and Brokers.

What you will do:
  • Support of the life cycle of new product development from concept, through design and development, testing, and product support.
  • Design of mechanical systems to include integration of diesel engines and accessories, design of structural components and interfaces to electro-mechanical systems within a 3D environment in Solidworks.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate designs comply with product specifications.
  • Conducts validation, verification, and qualification testing. Verifies designs are implemented with accurate consideration for power quality and performance, systems interfaces, physical environment, etc.
  • Provides product support as appropriate by isolating faults and resolving design issues.
  • Monitors the activities of subcontracted technical services.
  • Document designs, specifications, engineering changes and test reports.
  • Perform other duties and cross training as assigned.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills, planning & organizing skills, decision making and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum five years experience in mechanical engineering product design and development, 10+ years preferred
  • Direct experience with Diesel Engine technology a plus
  • Experience Solidworks in a 3D environment and/or Design Engineering software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Sense of ownership & urgency with projects and ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple, complex projects
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment as well as independently with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Position requires access to technology, materials, software, or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States and military CUI requirements. Candidates are required to provide proof of US citizenship or Permanent US Residency
