Provide professional input on structural analysis / design for all ongoing and forthcoming projects.
Support project teams as lead engineer and work closely with associated Project Managers.
Providing engineering support from base office or being present at project site – as necessary.
Communicate with consultants, vendors, project team and Class Societies – as necessary.
Review all structural design drawings and studies for accuracy and compliance to specifications.
Perform structural analysis / design activities, as directed.
Perform quality control review of structural design drawings.
Provide in-house design/drawing details and reports.
Produce drawings for proposals and bids, charts, graphs, timelines to assist Marketing.
Perform all aspects of Weight Control, including reviews of engineering changes and vendor drawings, data and equipment purchase orders for weight and moment effects.
Calculate weight and centers of gravity from Noble’s shipyard construction/detail drawings. Prepare and submit regular weight/activity reports throughout project’s duration for project and engineering leadership.
Assist Noble’s Engineering team on inclining experiments and deadweight surveys.
Track revisions of Noble/shipyard/vendor drawings to document impacts on weight growth, and maintains rig weight control spreadsheet.
Provide weight and center of gravity calculations to subcontractors for safely lifting, turning and loading of contracted subassemblies and structures.
Communicate any issues concerning engineering, quality, compliance or management to Engineering Management or Project Manager.
B.S. in Civil, Structural Engineering or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in Structural Engineering Design.
5+ years of experience with shipyard operations emphasizing Ship/MODU repair or new construction.
5+ years of drafting experience in AutoCAD, or 3+ years of service as CAD Designer Associate with demonstrated competence.
Experience in structural design and/or steel fabrication detailing for industrial facilities as well as knowledge of analytical modeling processes and performance calculations on structural components.
Experience in Finite Element Analysis from structural standpoint.
Knowledge of rig construction including detailed structural design drawings, production drawings, nesting, and general arrangement design.
