ProTrace Engineering is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, specializing in power system studies, to join our team.
This position is open to both those seeking a staff position, or on a contract basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:Experience and expertise shall include a range of duties within the Electrical discipline such as:
- HV, MV and LV power distribution, protection schemes, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc,
- Power system studies/analysis utilizing electrical system modeling software (ETAP/SKM) for electrical systems of varying complexity including large scale greenfield projects and brownfield retrofit type projects.
- Production of power system studies, calculations and reports including; load flow, short circuit, protection & coordination, arc flash, motor starting, and grounding, with an understanding of specialized studies including transient stability, reliability assessments and harmonic analysis.
- Engineering design integration of electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, MCC’s/distribution equipment, VFDs, protection relays, motors, generators, etc), equipment specifications, data sheets, material requisitions/technical bid evaluations and electrical/mechanical package vendor drawing review,
- Ensure effective communication within and between project disciplines and client representatives,
- Provide technical support to clients and technical expertise/support to the electrical team
- Assist project lead engineer with schedules, estimates, progress reporting and attend meetings as required,
- Perform self-checks and review designs by others, quality check and authentication of engineering drawings.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Five to Ten years of experience in Industrial or Oil and Gas facility design on various stages of Engineering Projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work within a diverse team of individuals
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering
- Registered with a Canadian Professional Association and eligible for registration with APEGA,
- Analytical/problem solving skills, with ability to work in a schedule-driven challenging environment,
- Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, governing standards and regulations, and industry best practices.
