Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an Assistant Area Traffic Engineer (WMS2) to play a pivotal role in supporting the department's mission of providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation options. This position actively contributes to major corridor projects, local agency endeavors, WSDOT Mega projects, transit-led initiatives, and lower-cost enhancements in South King County. By providing design guidance and quality assurance, the incumbent ensures alignment with federal, state, and local policies and standards. Leveraging traffic engineering and operations expertise, they contribute to project environmental and design documentation, Access Revision Reports, Intersection Control Evaluations, channelization development, and WSDOT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Planning efforts. As a key advocate for the state highway network's integrity, this position exercises independent engineering judgment in traffic operations actions and projects, emphasizing a commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
