About the Position
The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Inspector. Under general supervision, the Engineering Inspector will be responsible for performing inspections for various construction projects to ensure accordance with approved plans and specifications and Village code. The Engineering Inspector will perform pre-construction, construction, and final inspections of subdivision, site development, and public works projects, such as sanitary sewers, storm sewers, retention areas, water mains, streets, curbs and gutters, and sidewalks.

The Engineering Inspector will address questions and concerns from builders, developers, and residents and will prepare daily inspection reports. In addition, the Engineering Inspector will perform various permit plan reviews, and also investigate and respond to service requests pertaining to a variety of engineering-related matters. Desired candidates will have strong communication skills and knowledge of proper construction techniques and civil engineering concepts.

Qualified candidates must have at least an Associate degree in engineering, construction management or related field, with various types of construction inspection, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. A valid Illinois Driver's License required.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $92,456 and includes a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
