Are you interested in making a positive impact on Wisconsin’s infrastructure by serving as a project leader on improvement projects in the North Central Region of Wisconsin?

The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking an interested and qualified individual to fill a Project Development Design Project Leader (Transportation Specialist Advanced) position in the North Central Region!

This full-time position can be headquartered in either Wisconsin Rapids or Rhinelander.

Position Summary
This position functions as part of a Project Development cross-functional team in the North Central Region.  The position performs professional work in the design and construction of highway improvement projects.  The work is predominantly intellectual and varied in character and involves the consistent application of discretion and judgment in its performance.

The position applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices to solve engineering problems of varied complexities.  Knowledge of highway design and construction principles and methods and the associated automation, survey, and testing tools is required.  This position is the project leader on small to complex size projects. Work assignments and activities are monitored by more experienced engineers or supervisors.

Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of 
$64,480-$85,280, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

Experience managing multiple project schedules to ensure timely project completion. Activities may include tracking project progress, establishing work/project schedules for staff, attending production or critical project meetings, identifying and addressing problems to keep projects on schedule, performing field inspections, and attending meetings to monitor progress of construction activities.

Experience working with project development related items. Activities may include developing project schedules, overseeing consultant contracts, writing/reviewing environment documents, writing/reviewing traffic management plans, writing/reviewing design study reports, developing/reviewing project PSE documents (plans, specials, and estimates), overseeing construction contractors, or reading/interpreting construction plans on transportation projects.
