TO KNOW:

• Candidates must be current residents of Vancouver Island or the Lower Mainland or with experience in BC's interior to qualify for this position.
• Successful candidates should at times be prepared to be on-site and possibly in remote areas for up to 2-week rotations to suit construction needs.
• This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking candidates with significant experience in geotechnical engineering. Eager intermediate candidates are welcome to apply.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS:

• Conduct geotechnical investigations for on-site field visits & evaluations for geohazard and construction projects.
• Perform geotechnical analysis & design calculations for basic foundations, GRS walls, soil nails and rock anchors.
• Prepare technical reports with recommendations based on findings and project development needs.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure geotechnical requirements & directives are met.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers & technicians.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess soil conditions and construction progress.

ESSENTIALS:

• Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, MS Project Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
• SLIDE, Avenza, & RoadEng software.
• Bonus: CAD, AutoCAD, and other drafting software.
• Demonstrated high-level skills in: - Soil and rock mechanics as they relate to geotechnical design. - Slope stability modeling using SLIDE. - Communication skills, both written and verbal to articulate directives with partners, clients & project teams. Problem-solving & analytical skills, ability to make timely sound decisions.
• Project management, prioritizing tasks with tight deadlines.
• Positive forward-facing outlook under pressure.
• Industrial safety awareness.
• Research and sourcing skills.
• EGBC eligible or Civil Technologist.
•  Possess a valid driver's license, sound driving record & reliable transportation (company vehicle may be optional).
