Duties & Responsibilities

This position will:
  • Champion the industry-leading Mining truck development process using lean product introduction processes.
  • Support the development and execution of Mining Machinery product and marketing strategy, product cost, and technology strategy.
  • Study the industry trends and carry out technical research on benchmark enterprises and competitive products.
  • Assess customers’ requirements and convey this information to the client R&D Teams in China.
  • Set up a project team, formulate a project plan, carry out technical research, product feasibility, and product definition, support detailed design and test verification of new product development, etc., and be responsible for the success or failure of product research and development.
  • According to the project plan, plan resource requirements, implement the project development following the project management requirements, and be responsible for the quality of the project development process.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to engineers throughout the company to help raise the level of engineering within the company.
  • Share ideas for continuous improvements on the Mining products and best practices for the team (tool, process, document format).
  • Competency and desire to become and stay an expert in his/her domain of technology.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or other related engineering degree—Graduate degree preferred and Minimum of 15 years of product development experience or equivalent in Mining Machinery, Construction Equipment, or off-road machinery.
  • Deep expertise in mining truck structural design and analysis in truck suspension, weldment, casting, and forging.
  • Or deep expertise in mining truck steering systems, hoist systems, brake apply systems, brake cooling systems, and suspension systems.
  • Knowledgeable of the key product overall configuration, product performance parameters, master key product technologies, configuration matching, and component selection, and have certain research on products. Can guide and conduct product knowledge training for personnel at all levels.
  • Be proficient in the performance characteristics of competitors' products and be able to analyze the competitive highlights and shortcomings of most brand products.
  • Proficient in product-related standards, able to organize the layout and establishment of corporate standards for major products. Knowledge in diesel engine, electrical control, and powertrain electrification.
  • Knowledge of business principles and concepts.
  • Ability to work transversally with different teams and interface easily with other engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
