Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Southwest Region (SWR) Planning Engineer in Vancouver, WA. The objective of this position is to facilitate planning, engineering, and implementation of Complete Streets consistent with WSDOT’s vision for a safe, sustainable, and integrated multimodal transportation system and with FHWA direction to plan, develop and operate equitable streets and networks that prioritize safety, comfort, and connectivity to destinations for all people who use the street network. As a member of the SWR Planning Department, the SWR Planning Engineer serves as the region’s expert for implementing Complete Streets, Active Transportation, Transportation System Management Operations (TSMO), Practical Design principles, and apply safe system approach analysis methods and implementation for all road users.   The ideal candidate builds and maintains strong partnerships with internal and external customers and stakeholders; has strong project management and writing skills; and expertise producing deliverables that link planning, scoping, design, and construction of transportation projects.
