The anticipated salary range is $75,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience, and relocation assistance is available.

Summary of Duties: 

The primary function of this position is to serve as a Project Manager and Energy Engineer working closely with WSU user groups to identify project needs and manage expectations through the work of Consultants, Contractors, and WSU staff from project concept through final acceptance. In addition, this position will work closely with Facilities Services’ energy management team to develop and maintain a decarbonization and energy management plan necessary to transition the university to non-fossil fuel-based energy by 2050. The successful candidate will have a primary role in the technology implementation required to reduce energy use and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions across the WSU system.   

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field and five (5) or more years of professional architectural, engineering, or equivalent experience which has included demonstrated competence to perform coordination of planning, design, and/or construction of major capital improvement projects.  
  • An additional two (2) years of progressively responsible, relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. 
  • A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience exclusive of supervisory experience. 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain by the time of hire, a current driver’s license. 

 
Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering from an accredited ABET institution. 
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience. 
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer’s License, CEM certification, and/or LEED Professional Accreditation. 
  • Knowledge of energy engineering principles and experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing systems for energy and resource waste in commercial or industrial facilities. 
  • General knowledge of building automation systems, and their purpose in a facility setting.  
  • Including experience with Siemens and Alerton Graphical User Interface. 
  • Experience with district utilities. 
  • Background in the design and maintenance of steam, chilled water, electrical, HVAC systems, and building controls. 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and customers including communicating technical issues for non-technical audiences and working with clients to understand and translate their requirements. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, communication, and time management skills. 
  • Experience with applicable computer applications (word processing, project management, AutoCAD, Email, etc.)
