Requirements and Responsibilities
 
The Engineering / Project Manager will be responsible for projects estimating, engineering, drafting and project management. He/she will negotiate with potential clients, analyze and evaluate suppliers' bids, tenders, proposals and quotations to meet organizational standards. Determines necessary resources for projects within budgetary constraints and calculates estimated costs.

  • Proactively follow up and oversee the follow up of estimates to determine win-loss reasons.
 
  • Review plans and specifications in detail to become completely familiar with the scope of work involved.

  • Performs needed takeoffs of the plans to estimate direct labor and material costs.
 
  • Build cost estimates quotes based on updates, pricing, internal material usage estimates and information provided by the contractor’s/customer’s plans and specifications.
 
  • Perform a detailed review of estimation prepared by Estimators.
 
  • Determine any areas that may require further clarification and submits appropriate Requests for Information (RFI’s).
 
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers for all necessary information in order to efficiently acquire accurate bids
 
  • Update all estimates for Change Orders and maintains supporting records of all changes.
 
  • Monitors and proactively manages the timely return of subcontractor and supplier bids.
 
  • Assembles all pricing information into clear, standardized budget format.
 
  • Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
 
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to budgets and deadlines
 
Must Possess:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Structural experience is a plus
 
  • Strong communication skills
 
  • 2 to 4 years of Engineering/project management experience
 
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications and bid documents
 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
 
  • Strong computer skills with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
 
  • Be willing to work as part of a tightly integrated team in a fast-paced environment
 
  • Willing to work overtime
