Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Review customer specifications and apply solutions based on available hardware and costing.
• Specify Vision applications hardware and setup solutions.
• Specify PLC models and manufacturers as required.
• Select electrical hardware to meet project requirements.
• Select pneumatic and hydraulic systems based on customer or PMD specifications.
• Maintain the costing library of electrical hardware used in the automation industry.
• Apply worldwide safety standards.
• Ensure robots meet PMDs and customer specifications.
• Follow the quoting process as defined by the applications department.
• Mentor other engineers in the applications department on electrical standards
• Review incoming vendor quotes and outgoing PMD quotations for completeness.
• Present PMD’s machine control solutions to prospective customers
• Review machine concepts for safety requirements
• Work with PMD shop and controls engineering department to ensure that quotes agree with PMD’s capabilities and standard practices.

Authorities And Responsibilities

• Advising other members of the team on control concepts for projects
• Present a path to the Applications Manager and team for future methods of quoting.

Position Requirements

Experience working with automation equipment, including some of the following experiences listed below:

• Machine vision programming
• PLC programming
• Robot programming
• Servo programming
• Database interface and hardware selection
